Saturday

Another excellent day at the Sandberg Family Reunion 2008.

A hearty breakfast set us up for a day in the beautiful Michigan woods. The yummy chicken dinner by the Wandas was followed up by a very uplifting women's walk/waddle. (The men did not wish to do a men's walk, even though we set it up so they wouldn't feel left out).

More napping, swimming, playing, lake surfing, etc. followed. A great pizza dinner by Philip was followed by mission reports and family prayer. We love you!!!

Thursday at the reunion

Here we are! Everyone safely arrived last night and we were all so happy to see each other! Philip and Greg will be arriving today.

Last night we gathered, had a yummy potato-bar dinner by Auntie K and talked. There was a short 'show and tell' with the original six bringing mementos of Grandma to share. Holly modeled an old dress of Grandma's. Wanda brough a dolly knit by Grandma Klara, Gilbert brought XXXX, Kathleen brough Grandma's mission journal and David brought XXXX. Then we sang the updated Sandberg song! (included below) and had a short family history quiz (ask Gilbert for a copy). Then we shared a few memories and had a family prayer. We wish you were here! Love, the Charlottes
Sandberg Family Song – 2008
(By the Philips and Charlottes)

Karl Ivar came from Sweden to meet his brother Sven
They farmed the Dakota prairie in 1910 plus 10

In 1932 now, he read a Mormon book
He went to the Salt Lake Valley to give it all a look

(Chorus) We are the Sandbergs, the Sandberg family
So remember who you are, and act accordingly

He returned to South Dakota with the priesthood and a plan
To share the gospel with neighbors and save his fellow man

Mildred Nelson once taught piano, she soon won his heart
Together they farmed the land, and the tractor fell apart
(Chorus)
Charlotte Ann, the first-born baby girl arrived in good time
She was the sweetest baby, born in 1939

The next little bundle of pink to come was Kathleen Marie
She made her parents so happy, as you can clearly see
(Chorus)
A big white house came next in 1941
It gave the family lots of room, they always had great fun

David Karl was the firstborn son who arrived in ‘42
The apple of his father’s eye and we all love him too
(Chorus)
A second bouncing baby boy arrived in 1944
They named his Gilbert Ivar, they couldn’t have asked for more

They added another baby boy in 1945
His name was Philip Dean and now the number was five
(Chorus)
In 1950 came the sixth, the final in the line
Her name was Wanda Elizabeth and she was mighty fine

A car wreck took the life of Ivar in 1952
Our family is forever, our love lasts through and through
(Chorus)
Our dear mother went to heaven in 1989
She and Ivar are together and will be for all time

From two love-birds so long ago has grown a family tree
The whole family will grow in love for all eternity.
(Chorus)
