Charlotte, Kathleen, David and Mildred. This was their passport photo to Sweden. They did not get to go because they could not get passage on the boat because everyone was trying to go to Europe after the war to see their families. Charlotte's 1st grade teacher said it was okay to miss school because it would be more educational to go to Sweden.
Gilbert and Philip would go out swimming in the big wooden tank the cows drank out of and then hang themselves out to dry. This was after a hard day of working on the farm.

Wanda, Kathleen, Charlotte, Phillip, Gilbert and David in town. They lived in town in the winter and at the farm in the summer. Mildred wanted to teach the boys how to work. Many people told Mildred she could not raise good boys if they went to town.

Going to school in the sled. It was 2 miles to school. It took about a half hour.
